DR. JONES' ONGOING HEARING
Nov. 16, 2006
from Sheila

Just a reminder that the next hearing session for Dr. Jones is scheduled for Thursday, November 16 at 9:00 a.m. We are being asked to pack the house - overflowing into the rafters and out the front door. Seriously. It is now more important than ever to demonstrate strong and unwavering public support for Dr. Jones, the thousands of children that he treats, and the issues that he suppports and rresents.

After the recent publication of the revised IDSA guidelines, and in view of the predicament facing Dr. Jemsek in NC, the Lyme community must be more united than ever in its commitment to preserve freedom of choice regarding comprehensive treatment of tick-borne disease. Without clear and concerted efforts now, together with strength in numbers, doctors who depart from the IDSA revised guidelines will be ever more vulnerable to medical board sanctions. This threat is real and it is upon us. One way to demonstrate our strength and solidarity is to attend Dr. Jones' hearing on the 16th, bringing attention to the fact that large numbers of patients have been helped by our doctors, who are grateful to them for their courage, fortitude and commitment.

In Massachusetts, our efforts to organize subsidized bus service to the hearing have not been successful. Although we are disappointed, we respect the right and need of each of you to decide this matter for yourselves. Many in the community are too ill to travel, while others prefer the flexibility and comfort of traveling by car.

HOWEVER: THE FACT REMAINS THAT WE NEED A HUGE TURNOUT!!!

HOW YOU CAN HELP: If everyone coming to the hearing succeeds in bringing one additional person, we will be able to double the attendance. Even if you cannot attend yourself, you may know someone who could serve as your proxy, or who would otherwise be willing to attend.

In our family, my husband and oldest son have committed to taking time off from work to join us on the 16th. Previously, my younger two and I have represented our family in support of Dr. Jones. Now all 5 of us will attend.

If you have a friend or relative able to accompany you, please encourage them to do so.

If you have a vehicle and can transport someone, please post that fact. [MODERATOR NOTE: Contact Sheila for up-to-date ride info]

If you have a friend or relative living in the vicinity of Hartford who might be willing to attend, please encourage them to do so.

In this way, we each can do our part to promote a strong turnout.

Here is some additional information to assist you:
